Hon. Sharon V. Burrell, Esq.

Hon. Sharon V. Burrell, Esq. has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Montgomery County Circuit Court, 6th Judicial Circuit, since October 21, 2008. She was born in Washington, DC, in 1957. Judge Burrell earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Barnard College of Columbia University in 1979 and her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1982. She was a law clerk to Judge Harry A. Cole, Maryland Court of Appeals, from 1982 to 1983. She was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar in 1982 and the Maryland Bar in 1984. Before her judicial appointment, she served as an associate at Cable, McDaniel, Bowie & Bond from 1983 to 1987.

Judge Burrell has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as the President of the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association from 2005 to 2006 and as a Member of the American Bar Association from 1982 to 1987. She has also been a Member of the Maryland State Bar Association since 1982 and has served on various committees, including the Equal Justice Committee (chair of the operations subcommittee since 2023) and the Judicial Ethics Committee of the Judicial Council since 2020. Her extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make her a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
