Hon. Michael R. Pearson, Esq. has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Prince George’s County Circuit Court, 7th Judicial Circuit, since August 5, 2009. He was born in Washington, DC, on September 19, 1969. Judge Pearson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of the District of Columbia in 1994 and his Juris Doctor from the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America, in 1998. Before his judicial appointment, he worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County from 1999 to 2004 and as a Senior Trial Attorney in the Homicide Unit from 2007 to 2009. He was also an Associate at Bennett & Bair, LLP, from 2004 to 2007.
Judge Pearson has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as a Member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Sentencing Alternatives, Re-Entry, and Best Practices from 2010 to 2012. He has also been a Member of the Criminal Law Section Council of the Maryland State Bar Association since 2007, and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Prince George’s County Bar Association from 2005 to 2006, 2008 to 2009, and 2011 to present. Additionally, he has been involved with the 100 Black Men of Maryland, Inc., the Law Ministry of Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church, and the Prince George’s County Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. His extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make him a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
