Hon. Marybeth Ayres, Esq. has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Montgomery County Circuit Court, 6th Judicial Circuit, since December 2022. She previously served as the Assistant State’s Attorney for Montgomery County from 2004 to 2008 and again from 2011 to 2022, where she was the Chief of the Major Crimes Division. Before that, she was an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Homicide Division of Baltimore City from 2003 to 2004 and an Assistant District Attorney in the District Attorney’s Office, Queens County, New York, from 1998 to 2003. Judge Ayres earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Bucknell University and her Juris Doctor from the George Washington University School of Law in 1997. She was admitted to the New York Bar in 1999 and the Maryland Bar.
Judge Ayres has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as a Member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Montgomery County Bar Association. She is also a Member of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Her extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make her a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
