Hon. Brett R. Wilson has been serving as the County Administrative Judge for the Washington County Circuit Court since September 3, 2021. Prior to this role, he was an associate judge from November 17, 2017, to September 3, 2021. Judge Wilson has a long history of public service, including his tenure as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 2B from 2015 to 2017. He has also chaired various committees and task forces, such as the Court Access and Community Relations Committee and the State Commission on Criminal Sentencing Policy. Judge Wilson’s extensive legal experience and dedication to justice make him a respected leader in the judicial community. 

Judge Wilson took over from Judge Daniel P. Dwyer, who served as the County Administrative Judge from November 1, 2016, until his retirement on November 1, 2021. Judge Dwyer had a distinguished career, serving as an assistant state’s attorney for Washington County from 1987 to 1994 and as a domestic relations master from 1996 to 2009. He was known for his commitment to ensuring access to justice and his work on various committees, including the Mental Health Advisory Committee and the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Council.
