Hon. Jeannie J. Hong has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Baltimore City Circuit Court, 8th Judicial Circuit, since October 19, 2011. Before her appointment to the Circuit Court, she served as an Associate Judge on the District Court of Maryland, District 1, Baltimore City, from August 15, 2002, to October 19, 2011. During her tenure at the District Court, she was the Judge-in-Charge of the North Avenue District Court from 2004 to 2011. Judge Hong has been actively involved in various legal committees and organizations, including the Equal Justice Committee of the Judicial Council from 2020 to 2022, the Court Commission on Professionalism from 2004 to 2006, and the Court Interpreters Committee from 2003 to 2007.Born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1965, Judge Hong earned her Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia in 1988 and her Juris Doctor from the Washington College of Law, American University, in 1992. She has been admitted to the Maryland Bar since 1993 and has been a member of several bar associations, including the American Bar Association, the Baltimore City Bar Association, and the Maryland State Bar Association. Throughout her career, Judge Hong has received numerous awards for her contributions to the legal field, including the Trailblazer Award from the National Asian-Pacific American Bar Association in 2005 and the Award of Excellence from Women in Government Service in 1999. Her dedication to justice and her extensive legal experience make her a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
