Hon. Brenda A. Sexton has been serving as the Circuit Administrative Judge for the 2nd Judicial Circuit (Caroline, Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s & Talbot counties) and the County Administrative Judge for the Cecil County Circuit Court since April 16, 2024. She previously served as an Associate Judge from January 3, 2014, to April 16, 2024. Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, in 1961, Judge Sexton earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (pre-law) from Goucher College in 1984 and her Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law in 1987. She has held various roles in private practice and public service, including serving as the Assistant State’s Attorney for Cecil County from 2002 to 2011 and as the General Counsel to the Town of North East from 1988 to 2011.

Judge Sexton has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as Treasurer of the Cecil County Bar Association from 1990 to 1992 and as a Member of the Adult Public Guardianship Review Board in Cecil County from 2004 to 2011. Her extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make her a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary. Judge Sexton’s commitment to justice and her diverse legal background highlight her as a distinguished member of the Cecil County Circuit Court.
