Hon. Barry G. Williams has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Baltimore City Circuit Court, 8th Judicial Circuit, since December 5, 2005. He has held various significant roles, including Judge-in-Charge of the Criminal Division from January 2, 2012, to January 2, 2015, and Chair of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for Baltimore City from 2012 to 2014. Born in Neptune, New Jersey, in 1962, Judge Williams earned his Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Virginia in 1984 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1987. He has been admitted to the Maryland Bar, Pennsylvania Bar, and District of Columbia Bar since 1987. Judge Williams has also served as a law clerk to Judge Arrie W. Davis of the Baltimore City Circuit Court and Judge Robert M. Bell of the Court of Special Appeals.
Judge Williams has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as a member of the Technology Oversight Board from 2007 to 2014 and the Judiciary Task Force on Pretrial Confinement and Release from 2013 to 2014. His extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make him a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary1.
