Hon. Cheri N. Simpkins, Esq.

Hon. Cheri N. Simpkins, Esq. has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Prince George’s County Circuit Court, 7th Judicial Circuit, since January 2024. She was appointed by Governor Moore on November 21, 2023, and has had a remarkable career dedicated to justice and equity. Judge Simpkins earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of South Florida and her Juris Doctor from the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University. Before her judicial appointment, she worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County for 14 years, where she held leadership roles such as Chief of the Juvenile Division and Assistant Chief of the District Court Division.Judge Simpkins has been actively involved in various legal and community organizations, including the Maryland State Bar Association, the Prince George’s County Bar Association, and the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association. She has received several honors and awards, including being named one of Maryland Daily Record’s Top 100 Women in 2023 and receiving the Steven P. Lemmey Award for the Advancement of Public Service Responsibility from the Maryland Bar Foundation. Her dedication to public service and legal excellence has made her a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
