Hon. Cathy Hollenberg Serrette, Esq. served as an Associate Judge on the Prince George’s County Circuit Court, 7th Judicial Circuit, from December 19, 2003, until her retirement in April 2024. She was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in 1954. Judge Serrette earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1975, summa cum laude, and her Juris Doctor from the National Law Center, George Washington University, in 1979. She also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Legal Studies from the Washington College of Law, American University, in 1991. Before her judicial appointment, she worked as a Staff Attorney for Advocates for Children in New York, NY, from 1980 to 1981, and as a Partner at Kresky, Sinawski & Hollenberg in New York City from 1981 to 1984. She also served as Staff Counsel for the Information Protection and Advocacy Center for Handicapped Individuals in Washington, DC, from 1986 to 1987.

Judge Serrette has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as the Coordinating Judge of the Family Division from 2009 to 2024 and as an Advanced Science and Technology Adjudication Resource Fellow from 2006 to 2024. She has also been a Member of the Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Service of the Court of Appeals since 2002, and the Chair of the Family Law Committee of the Maryland Judicial Conference from 2006 to 2014. Additionally, she has served as a Member of the Truancy Court Work Group, the Maryland Access to Justice Commission, and the Equal Justice Committee. Her extensive legal experience and dedication to public service have made her a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
