Hon. Karen H. Mason, Esq. has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Prince George’s County Circuit Court, 7th Judicial Circuit, since January 29, 2016. She previously served as an Associate Judge on the District Court of Maryland, District 5, from April 30, 2012, to January 29, 2016. Judge Mason earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Dayton in 1980 and her Juris Doctor from the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America, in 1992. Before her judicial appointments, she worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County from 1996 to 1998 and 2000 to 2006, and as Staff Counsel for Allstate Insurance Company from 1998 to 2000. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1958.
Judge Mason has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as the Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Drug Court since 2017 and as a Member of the Juvenile Law Committee of the Judicial Council from 2018 to 2021. She has also been a Member of the Judicial Council of the Maryland Judicial Conference since 2014. Her extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make her a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
