Hon. DaNeeka V. Cotton, Esq. has been serving as the Circuit Administrative Judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit (Calvert, Charles, Prince George’s & St. Mary’s counties) and the County Administrative Judge for the Prince George’s County Circuit Court since January 1, 2023. She previously served as an Associate Judge from October 24, 2011, to December 31, 2022. Judge Cotton earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Hampton University in 1988 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1991. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1991. Before her judicial appointment, she worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County from 1994 to 1998 and as a Master for Domestic Relations, Family Division, in the Prince George’s County Circuit Court from 1998 to 2006.Judge Cotton has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as the Chair of the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council in Prince George’s County from 2006 to 2011 and as a Member of the Public Awareness Committee of the Maryland Judicial Conference from 2007 to 2010. She has also been a Member of the Criminal Law and Procedure Committee of the Maryland Judicial Conference from 2006 to 2007 and a Member of the Maryland Electronic Courts Advisory Committee since 2022. Her extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make her a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
