Hon. Rachel T. McGuckian, Esq.

Hon. Rachel T. McGuckian, Esq. has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Montgomery County Circuit Court, 6th Judicial Circuit, since January 14, 2022. She was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, in 1968. Judge McGuckian attended Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History of Art from The Johns Hopkins University in 1990. She then obtained her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1993. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1993 and the District of Columbia Bar in 1993. She served as a law clerk to Judge Deborah K. Chasanow of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, Southern Division, from 1993 to 1994. She was an associate at Eccleston & Wolf, P.A., from 1994 to 1996, and later joined Miles & Stockbridge, P.C., where she became the managing principal of the Rockville office from 2018 to 2022.

Judge McGuckian has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as a Member of the State Board of Elections from 2009 to 2014 and the State Ethics Commission from 2014 to 2015. She has also been a Member of the Peer Review Committee and the Character Committee of the Court of Appeals from 2020 to 2022 and 2013 to 2022, respectively. Her extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make her a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
