Hon. Louis M. Leibowitz, Esq. has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Montgomery County Circuit Court, 6th Judicial Circuit, since June 2022. He was born in Wayne, New Jersey, and attended Wayne Hills High School. Judge Leibowitz earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Tufts University in 1997 and his Juris Doctor from the Washington College of Law, American University, in 2000. He was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 2000 and the District of Columbia Bar in 2001. Before his judicial appointment, he served as an Assistant Public Defender in Montgomery County from 2002 to 2008. He also worked as an attorney at Stein, Sperling, Bennett, De Jong, Driscoll & Greenfeig, P.C., from 2008 to 2011, and established his own law practice, Law Offices of Louis M. Leibowitz, LLC, in 2011.
Judge Leibowitz has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as a Member of the Montgomery County Bar Association and the Board of Directors of Kid Power from 2006 to 2013. He has also been involved in various community roles, such as Vice-President of Fundraising for the Ritchie Park Elementary School PTA in Rockville, Maryland, from 2017 to 2018, and Vice-President of Youth and Family at the Tikvat Israel Congregation in Rockville, Maryland, from 2014 to 2016. His extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make him a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
