Hon. Kevin G. Hessler, Esq. has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Montgomery County Circuit Court, 6th Judicial Circuit, since July 25, 2017. He was born in Washington, DC, in 1956. Judge Hessler earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and English from Bucknell University in 1978, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1981. He was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1981. Before his judicial appointment, he served as a Legislative Aide and Internship Program Coordinator for U.S. Senator Howard Baker of Tennessee from 1977 to 1979. He also worked as a Law Clerk to Judge John J. Mitchell of the Montgomery County Circuit Court from 1981 to 1982, and to Judge John P. Moore of the Court of Appeals from 1982 to 1983. He was an Associate at Miller & Steinberg from 1982 to 1990, and a Partner at Miller, Steinberg & Hessler from 1990 to 1999. He later became a Partner at Dragga, Callahan, Hannon & Hessler, LLP, from 1999 to 2009, and Dragga, Hannon, Hessler & Wills, LLP, from 2009 to 2017.
Judge Hessler has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as a Member of the Commission for Women, Montgomery County, from 1996 to 2003, and the Select Committee on Gender Equality from 2000 to 2001. He has also been a Member of the Maryland State Bar Association since 1982, and has held various leadership roles, including co-chair of the Business Torts Committee of the Litigation Section from 1994 to 1996. His extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make him a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
