Hon. Christopher C. Fogleman has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Montgomery County Circuit Court, 6th Judicial Circuit, since January 25, 2019. He was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan. Judge Fogleman has held assignments on the Court Access & Community Relations Committee of the Maryland Judicial Council and the Montgomery County Commission on Juvenile Justice. He also presides over the Montgomery County Mental Health Court. Prior to his judicial appointment, he worked at Gleason, Flynn, Emig & McAfee, a law firm he joined in 1988. During his tenure there, he rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a shareholder in 1996. He represented individuals and businesses in commercial litigation, creditors’ rights, and criminal defense matters.
Judge Fogleman earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from King’s College in 1981 and a Juris Doctor from the American University Washington College of Law in 1984. He is admitted to practice in Maryland (1985), the District of Columbia (1989), and Virginia (1990). After graduating from law school, he began his legal career as a law clerk to the Hon. Calvin R. Sanders of the Montgomery County Circuit Court. He served in that capacity until 1985, at which time he became an assistant public defender with the Montgomery County Public Defender’s Office. His memberships have included the Maryland State Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association, the Commercial Law League of America, and the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association.
