Hon. Carlos F. Acosta, Esq.

Hon. Carlos F. Acosta, Esq. has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Montgomery County Circuit Court, 6th Judicial Circuit, since January 6, 2022. He previously served as an Associate Judge on the District Court of Maryland, District 6, from January 26, 2018, to January 6, 2022. Judge Acosta earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1985, and his Master of Arts degree in Rhetoric from the same institution in 1991. He received his Juris Doctor from the Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1991. He has held various roles in private practice, including serving as an attorney at Katten Muchin Zavis & Dombroff, Law Offices of Luis U. Leon, and Futrovsky Nitkin & Scherr, Chartered.

Judge Acosta has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as the President of the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association and as a Member of the American Bar Association. He has also been a Member of the Criminal Justice Section Sentencing Committee of the American Bar Association and the Criminal Law & Practice Section Council of the Maryland State Bar Association. His extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make him a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
