Hon. Harris P. Murphy, Esq.

Hon. Harris P. Murphy, Esq. has been serving as the County Administrative Judge for the Kent County Circuit Court, 2nd Judicial Circuit, since September 22, 2017. He previously served as the State’s Attorney for Kent County from January 5, 2015, to September 22, 2017, and as an Assistant Public Defender for Kent County from 2004 to 2014. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1968, Judge Murphy earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities from Washington College in 1993 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1996. He has held various roles in private practice, including serving as an attorney at Flanagan & Murphy, L.L.C., Anderson, Coe & King, L.L.P., and Allewalt & Murphy, P.A..

Judge Murphy has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as the President of the Kent County Bar Association from 2015 to 2016 and as a Member of the Maryland State Bar Association. He has also been a Member of the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Council for Kent County since 2015 and has served on the Handgun Roster Board and the Opioid Prevention Program for Kent County. His extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make him a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
