Hon. Makeba Gibbs has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Charles County Circuit Court, 7th Judicial Circuit, since December 18, 2020. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1994 and her Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law in 2003. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 2003 and has held various roles in private practice and public service, including serving as an Assistant Public Defender from 2005 to 2014 and as the founder and principal attorney at the Law Offices of Makeba Gibbs, LLC, from 2014 to 2020.
Judge Gibbs has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as President of the Charles County Bar Association from 2012 to 2013 and as a Founding President of the Salome A. Howard Bar Association from 2010 to 2012. Her extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make her a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary. Judge Gibbs’s commitment to justice and her diverse legal background highlight her as a distinguished member of the Charles County Circuit Court.
