Hon. Mark W. Carmean has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Calvert County Circuit Court, 7th Judicial Circuit, since November 15, 2019. Born in 1994, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude) in Political Science from Duke University and his Juris Doctor (Order of the Coif) from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1997. He has been admitted to the Maryland Bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Judge Carmean has held various roles in private practice and public service, including serving as an associate at Piper & Marbury, LLP, and as a partner at Rath & Carmean, Ltd., Lamson & Carmean, LLC.
Judge Carmean has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as President of the Calvert County Bar Association from 2016 to 2017 and as a Volunteer Lawyer at the Family Law Pro Bono Clinic in the Calvert County Circuit Court from 2002 to 2019. His extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make him a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary. Judge Carmean’s commitment to justice and his diverse legal background highlight him as a distinguished member of the Calvert County Circuit Court.
