Hon. Nancy M. Purpura

Hon. Nancy M. Purpura has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Baltimore County Circuit Court, 3rd Judicial Circuit, since January 4, 2012. Before her appointment to the Circuit Court, she served as an Associate Judge at the District Court of Maryland, District 8, Baltimore County, from August 28, 2001, to January 4, 2012. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Towson State University in 1983 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1984. She has been admitted to the Maryland Bar since 1985 and has held various roles in private practice and public service, including serving as a trial attorney in the Office of Public Defender for Anne Arundel County and Baltimore County.

Judge Purpura has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving as a Member of the Education Committee of the Judicial Council from 2015 to 2017 and the Specialty Courts and Dockets Committee from 2015 to 2018. She has also been a Member of the Mental Health, Alcoholism, and Addiction Committee of the Maryland Judicial Conference from 2002 to 2005 and 2007 to 2013. Her extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make her a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary. Judge Purpura’s commitment to justice and her diverse legal background highlight her as a distinguished member of the Baltimore County Circuit Court.
