Hon. Michael S. Barranco has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Baltimore County Circuit Court, 3rd Judicial Circuit, since September 21, 2022. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1960 and attended the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland. Judge Barranco earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Duke University in 1982 and his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1985. He has been admitted to the Maryland Bar since 1985, the District of Columbia Bar since 1988, and the Virginia Bar since 1995. Before his judicial appointment, he worked as an associate at Niles Barton & Wilmer, LLP, Piper & Marbury, LLP, and Treanor, Pope & Hughes, P.A., and later as a partner at the Law Offices of Frank F. Daily, P.A..

Judge Barranco has been actively involved in several legal and community organizations, including serving on the Board of Airport Zoning Appeals from 2020 to 2021 and as a member of the Maryland State Bar Association since 1985. He has held various leadership positions within the association, including past members of the board of governors and past member of the strategic implementation committee. Judge Barranco’s extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make him a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary. His commitment to justice and his diverse legal background highlight him as a distinguished member of the Baltimore County Circuit Court.
