Hon. Cynthia H. Jones has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Baltimore City Circuit Court, 8th Judicial Circuit, since March 13, 2014. She has held various significant roles, including Designated Judge for the Business and Technology Case-Management Program since 2022 and Member of the Legislative Committee of the Judicial Council from 2017 to 2018. Prior to her judicial appointment, Judge Jones had a distinguished career as Deputy State’s Attorney for Investigations in Baltimore City from 2005 to 2011, Assistant State’s Attorney from 1995 to 2003, and Homicide Team Captain in 20031. She also served as Assistant Commissioner of Enforcement and Consumer Services in the Office of Financial Regulation, Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation from 2011 to 2014.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1964, Judge Jones earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from Chatham College in 1986 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1992. She has been admitted to the Maryland Bar since 1994 and has been a member of several bar associations, including the National Bar Association, Maryland State Bar Association, Baltimore City Bar Association, and Monumental City Bar Association1. Throughout her career, Judge Jones has been actively involved in various legal and community organizations, receiving numerous awards for her contributions to the legal field, such as the Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland in 2010 and the Certificate of Appreciation from Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in 2013. Her dedication to justice and extensive legal experience make her a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
