Hon. Michael A. DiPietro has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Baltimore City Circuit Court, 8th Judicial Circuit, since March 21, 2014. He has held various significant roles, including Judge-in-Charge of the Family Division at the Baltimore City Circuit Court. Before his judicial appointment, Judge DiPietro had a distinguished career as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, Civil Division, from 2000 to 2014, and as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Baltimore County from 1986 to 1993. He also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Investigations Division from 1993 to 2000. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1960, Judge DiPietro earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Loyola University in 1982 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1985.
Judge DiPietro has been actively involved in various legal and community organizations, including the Maryland State Bar Association and the Roland Park Civic League. He has received several awards for his service, including the Director’s Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement from the Executive Office of United States Attorneys in 2007 and a Special Commendation for Outstanding Service from the U.S. Department of Justice in 2011. His extensive legal experience and dedication to public service make him a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
