Hon. Paul J. Cucuzzella has been serving as an Associate Judge on the Baltimore City Circuit Court, 8th Judicial Circuit, since May 18, 2022. Before his judicial appointment, he had a distinguished career as an Assistant Attorney General, serving as litigation counsel for the Department of Natural Resources from 2002 to 2013, and as principal counsel for the Department of Planning from 2013 to 2022. He also served as principal counsel for the Department of Natural Resources again in 2022. Judge Cucuzzella has a strong military background, having served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1997 to 2001 and currently holding the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Judge Cucuzzella holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science from Villanova University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He has been admitted to the Maryland Bar and is a member of both the Maryland State Bar Association and the Baltimore City Bar Association1. Additionally, he has contributed to the legal community as an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law since 2004. His extensive legal and military experience, along with his dedication to public service, make him a respected and influential figure in the Maryland judiciary.
